2008/06/20 [14:06] <+jromeh> just tweeted to my small number of followers
2008/06/20 [14:06] <+TinaGillmor> think he's doing it now.... he was takin' care
of me pre-show... not feeling well
2008/06/20 [14:09] <+shareme> Yes I just saw Steve's tweet
2008/06/20 [14:09] <+dahowlett> Get well soon Tina @jromeh Tweeted it but the
link was wrong. Just Tweeted the right link
2008/06/20 [14:10] <+jromeh> also @techcrunch tweeted, watch numbers rise, will
trolls arrive soon?
2008/06/20 [14:10] <+techcrunch> jesus christ
2008/06/20 [14:10] <+techcrunch> this show is awful
2008/06/20 [14:11] <+jromeh> had all the link, and somehow there were a few
extra chars glued on
2008/06/20 [14:11] <+dahowlett> Arrington's at it again.
2008/06/20 [14:11] <+techcrunch> hey dennis

2008/06/20 [14:13] <@theagent> lost audiop
2008/06/20 [14:13] <@theagent> just a sec
2008/06/20 [14:13] <+TinaGillmor> lost audio
2008/06/20 [14:13] <+TinaGillmor> Jerry is dialing back in...
2008/06/20 [14:13] <+rjeffries> yawns
2008/06/20 [14:14] <+dahowlett> @rjeffries show - Steve's the host, it's his
show. And he's nice to look at.
2008/06/20 [14:14] <+techcrunch> you're not missing anything re dropped audio
2008/06/20 [14:14] <+techcrunch> steve, seriously, get it together
2008/06/20 [14:15] <+jcposner> Curious about the intersection of semantic web,
microformats and firefox 3
2008/06/20 [14:15] <+shareme> you mean flock?
2008/06/20 [14:15] <+techcrunch> jcposner - you mean semantic web and GOOGLE
2008/06/20 [14:15] <+techcrunch> "a lot of people use myspace and facebook" - no
<censored>
2008/06/20 [14:15] <+techcrunch> who said that?
2008/06/20 [14:15] <+techcrunch> they should be banned
2008/06/20 [14:16] <+dahowlett> I see Mike's in '<censored> off everybody' mode.
Sweet.
2008/06/20 [14:16] <+shareme> Flock 2 is cool
2008/06/20 [14:16] <+jcposner> firefox semantic web
http://cws.internet.com/article/4055-.htm
2008/06/20 [14:16] <+shareme> I wish they woudl jsut integrate mysocial24x7
though
2008/06/20 [14:17] <+shareme> a lot cooler that way
2008/06/20 [14:17] <+jcposner> Another potential application for semantic
information is that the functionality of the location bar in Firefox 3 could be
expanded with microformat detection, he said.
2008/06/20 [14:17] <+shareme> you mean like flock ?
2008/06/20 [14:18] <+shareme> flock uses that now right in addressbar
2008/06/20 [14:18] <+jcposner> never used it
2008/06/20 [14:18] <+aronski> I guess it's time to throw a couple of rabid
wolverines in the burlap bag...
2008/06/20 [14:18] <+jcposner> may try it
2008/06/20 [14:18] <+shareme> I iwll post a screen shot to my flcikr screen so
you can see
2008/06/20 [14:18] <+dahowlett> Flock sux for me
2008/06/20 [14:18] <+jcposner> flock seemed a little beta to me when I tied it
as a beta :-)
2008/06/20 [14:18] <+aronski> Used Flock 1.0, stopped when I became dependant on
Grease Monkey Scripts
2008/06/20 [14:19] <+rjeffries> Dear NewsGang: assin sombody to tell us
speaker's name when they start talking.
2008/06/20 [14:19] <+rjeffries> wait. there are only 28 people watching this
show
2008/06/20 [14:19] <+shareme> as far as I know you can use GreaseMonkey scripts
in flock 2
2008/06/20 [14:19] <+dahowlett> @rjeffries: are you visually challenged? The
name etc appears in the video area.
2008/06/20 [14:19] <+techcrunch> k seriously steve
2008/06/20 [14:19] <+rjeffries> is Canter speaking now?
2008/06/20 [14:20] <+techcrunch> 18 people in the world care about this
2008/06/20 [14:20] <+techcrunch> and they are all on the call
2008/06/20 [14:20] <+jcposner> what is the thread here..missing the context
2008/06/20 [14:20] <+dahowlett> and that must include you Mike - right?
2008/06/20 [14:20] <@theagent> I try to keep in sync with the speaker.. look at
the video
2008/06/20 [14:20] <+rjeffries> I did not understand that . now I get it. I
thoughtr that was random lide show
2008/06/20 [14:20] <+techcrunch> i'm playing kdice
2008/06/20 [14:20] <+techcrunch> not paying attention any more
2008/06/20 [14:20] <+techcrunch> mcdonalds?
2008/06/20 [14:21] <+techcrunch> i'm just glad we cleared up the fact that a lot
of people apparently use facebook and myspace
2008/06/20 [14:21] <+aronski> or whatever the original version number was... I'm
not surprised they intergrated it. It was very social friendly but at the time I
jumped back to the bloated FF2...
2008/06/20 [14:21] <+shareme> lol
2008/06/20 [14:21] <+jcposner> event status integrated into the browser?
2008/06/20 [14:21] <+shareme> flock2 runson ff3 really very fast
2008/06/20 [14:22] <+dahowlett> Steve cracks me up
2008/06/20 [14:22] <+shareme> kmelon?
2008/06/20 [14:22] <+shareme> lyxn?
2008/06/20 [14:22] <+jcposner> what is mozilla doing beyond the browser and
email..any interest in a open source mesh play
2008/06/20 [14:23] <+shareme> look at messaging
2008/06/20 [14:23] <+aronski> Might have to take another look, but he's right,
switching browsers is rare, unless you're p@##ed off.
2008/06/20 [14:24] <+smbeebe> hi
2008/06/20 [14:24] <+smbeebe> steve needs to get an upgrade on that lame phone
;*)
2008/06/20 [14:25] <+jcposner> seems Mozilla is exclusively focused on the
client..any interest in the backend server space?
2008/06/20 [14:25] <+shareme> no lets get him a downgrade
2008/06/20 [14:25] <+shareme> lol
2008/06/20 [14:25] <+mobilejones> Nokia's web browser blows.
2008/06/20 [14:25] <+rjeffries> Steve. they have invented something called a
headset. has a good mike. you should try it sometime.
2008/06/20 [14:25] <+smbeebe> @shareme - great idea!
2008/06/20 [14:25] <+jromeh> steve has tried lots of headsets, none of which
sounded as good as the handset
2008/06/20 [14:25] <+smbeebe> wireless or bluetooth headset (plantronics)
2008/06/20 [14:25] <+mobilejones> However, Android is running on the N810 sorta
2008/06/20 [14:25] <+shareme> we nee dto get rotary dial 1800s phone just to see
his reaction
2008/06/20 [14:26] <+TinaGillmor> smbeebe --- I'm thinking of getting Steve one
of those phones that you have to crank up
2008/06/20 [14:26] <+smbeebe> @Tina - awesome!
2008/06/20 [14:26] <+shareme> Tina that would be so very kool
2008/06/20 [14:26] <+jromeh> we used to have a box that looked like one over our
kitchen phone
2008/06/20 [14:26] <+dahowlett> Awww Tina - you're just baiting poor Steve.
2008/06/20 [14:26] <+jromeh> might still have it in the crawl
2008/06/20 [14:26] <+TinaGillmor> Actually tried a few headsets and the sound
quality has been worse
2008/06/20 [14:26] <+smbeebe> bummer
2008/06/20 [14:27] <+aronski> Besides with a headset, we wouldn't want him to
look like one of Madonna's backround singers...
2008/06/20 [14:27] <+smbeebe> lol
2008/06/20 [14:27] <+mobilejones> Tina I think you should get him an Ernestine
headset complete with giant plugboard
2008/06/20 [14:27] <+TinaGillmor> Someone please f point me to a good sounding
solution
2008/06/20 [14:27] <+smbeebe> that android pic looks like R2D2
2008/06/20 [14:27] <+shareme> yes we would lol
2008/06/20 [14:27] <+dahowlett> The Logitech QuickPro camera is very good. Use
with in ear headset from Sony.
2008/06/20 [14:27] <+smbeebe> see http://hellodirect.com catalog for good phone
equipment
2008/06/20 [14:27] <+TinaGillmor> Dedbi ;-) perfect
2008/06/20 [14:28] <+smbeebe> mobile me sounds awesome
2008/06/20 [14:28] <+TinaGillmor> meant Debi
2008/06/20 [14:28] <+dahowlett> Did I hear him say something about in memory?
2008/06/20 [14:28] <+smbeebe> did steve say "sprout core" ??
2008/06/20 [14:28] <+thewilde> yep
2008/06/20 [14:28] <+smbeebe> what was that name
2008/06/20 [14:28] <+shareme> sproutcore ajax toolkit framework
2008/06/20 [14:28] <+smbeebe> ok
2008/06/20 [14:28] <+mobilejones> mobile me is weak kungfu
2008/06/20 [14:28] <+smbeebe> ahhh
2008/06/20 [14:28] <+jromeh> sproutcore was used to implement .mac photo
galleries, pretty cool outcome
2008/06/20 [14:28] <+rjeffries> SproutCore is getting some hype
2008/06/20 [14:29] <+smbeebe> yea
2008/06/20 [14:29] <+smbeebe> evolution of ajax... cool
2008/06/20 [14:29] <+thewilde> cool thing about SproutCore is Apple is keeping
it opensource
2008/06/20 [14:29] <+TinaGillmor> tweet link http://ustream.tv/channel/NewsGang-Live
2008/06/20 [14:29] <+smbeebe> opensource FTW
2008/06/20 [14:30] <+shareme> it snot apple but a Y-combinaor company
2008/06/20 [14:30] <+smbeebe> hmmm
2008/06/20 [14:30] <+aronski> Mobile Me seems half baked, rushed and not worth
jumping ship for.
2008/06/20 [14:30] <+mobilejones> Nokia has Ovi, Apple has me.com, and the rest
of the world will use Google
2008/06/20 [14:30] <+jcposner> I wonder what the browser will look like 10 years
from now..seems the central metaphor hasn't changed much over the last 10
years..I guess links will never die
2008/06/20 [14:30] <+smbeebe> geo location APIs - yeah!
2008/06/20 [14:30] <+smbeebe> gears rocks too
2008/06/20 [14:31] <+mobilejones> jcposner there are few links in mobile web
2008/06/20 [14:31] <+dalmaer> SproutIt is the company
2008/06/20 [14:31] <+dalmaer> SproutCore is the framework
2008/06/20 [14:31] <+dalmaer> I just interviewed the SproutCore founder (one of
them)
2008/06/20 [14:32] <+smbeebe> cool
2008/06/20 [14:32] <+smbeebe> link?
2008/06/20 [14:32] <+dalmaer>
http://ajaxian.com/archives/audible-ajax-episode-27-sproutcore-with-char...
2008/06/20 [14:32] <+jcposner> I am thinking automated pattern recognition in
the browser, awareness, intent, etc
2008/06/20 [14:32] <+dalmaer> smbeebe: thanks for the Gears love (I work on the
Gears team)
2008/06/20 [14:32] <+smbeebe> awesome!!
2008/06/20 [14:32] <+aronski> Well, maybe id the iPhone takes over the world
(ahem), it might look more like the multi-touch surface interface...
2008/06/20 [14:32] <+smbeebe> very coolio!
2008/06/20 [14:32] <+smbeebe> :-)
2008/06/20 [14:33] <+smbeebe> http://sroutit.com
2008/06/20 [14:33] <+smbeebe> oops...
2008/06/20 [14:33] <+smbeebe> http://sproutit.com
2008/06/20 [14:33] <+bboytrife> OpenMoco maybe not a iPhone killer
2008/06/20 [14:33] <+smbeebe> i love that graphic - firefox eating IE logo
2008/06/20 [14:33] <+dalmaer> The Open Web has won ;)
2008/06/20 [14:33] <+aronski> But I think there is enough fumble fingered old
school types who will still want the old metaphor...
2008/06/20 [14:34] <+jcposner> decoupling the web from the browser seems to be a
important next step
2008/06/20 [14:34] <+TinaGillmor> wow loud helicopter
2008/06/20 [14:35] <+aronski> Would that be a Gears type solution?
2008/06/20 [14:35] <+shareme> black helicopter?
2008/06/20 [14:35] <+bboytrife> http://wiki.openmoko.org
2008/06/20 [14:35] <+techcrunch> ok i couldn't stand it anymore
2008/06/20 [14:36] <+techcrunch> im out
2008/06/20 [14:36] <+techcrunch> steve, please consider this my resignation from
the show
2008/06/20 [14:36] <+aronski> Flash will continue to prevent mobile users from
seeing all content on the web...
2008/06/20 [14:36] <+rjeffries> is Mike serious?
2008/06/20 [14:37] <+tomoneill> good call
2008/06/20 [14:37] <+jcposner> as a Ubuntu enthusiast I would love to see the
web intergrated into the core of the OS..ie I have no need to fire up a browser,
web function has deep integration into the OS, a dream MS had but never realized
2008/06/20 [14:37] <+dalmaer> Mike: I like this call, it isn't about Twitter but
real stuff.
2008/06/20 [14:37] <+tomoneill> evangelism is huge
2008/06/20 [14:38] <+aronski> Jim, I think that some browser people feel that
they are the OS and the cloud will be the apps...
2008/06/20 [14:38] <+bboytrife> Young people are using Firefox, they know
2008/06/20 [14:38] <+TinaGillmor> young people?
2008/06/20 [14:38] <+dahowlett> I need to get off this to do a story about a
Rails apps doing a billion views per month.
2008/06/20 [14:39] <+jcposner> I think Mozilla needs to think about a deeper
integration play
2008/06/20 [14:39] <+jcposner> own the mission of integrating the web into the
soul of Linuz
2008/06/20 [14:39] <+TinaGillmor> thanks for showing up Dennis
2008/06/20 [14:39] <+jcposner> Linux
2008/06/20 [14:39] <+jromeh> dennis, nice volley
032008/06/20 [14:40] * ustreamer-97696 is now known as jonathansnook-1936
2008/06/20 [14:40] <+smbeebe> I guess i am "young" cool
2008/06/20 [14:41] <+smbeebe> kids get this stuff
2008/06/20 [14:41] <+smbeebe> i am a KID!! woo hooo!
2008/06/20 [14:41] <+jromeh> because of video games!
2008/06/20 [14:41] <+smbeebe> computer stuff
2008/06/20 [14:41] <+smbeebe> lol
2008/06/20 [14:41] <+smbeebe> wrong?
2008/06/20 [14:41] <+smbeebe> digital natives..
2008/06/20 [14:42] <+aronski> Jim, we're pretty close already...as opposed to a
few years ago, I often only have one app open, a browser and most tools are
available through it.
2008/06/20 [14:42] <+jromeh> it's a small subset of any generation
2008/06/20 [14:42] <+jcposner> Nick Carr calls us "pancake people"
2008/06/20 [14:42] <+jromeh> that can see the general which is implied by the
specific
2008/06/20 [14:43] <+jromeh> and then adapt their skills as needed, "change
agents"
2008/06/20 [14:44] <+jromeh> interesting parallels to alchemists
2008/06/20 [14:44] <+rjeffries> Udell is da man
2008/06/20 [14:44] <+rjeffries> I read that post and he is dead nuts on target
2008/06/20 [14:44] <+jromeh> shaming us non-bloggers, as he should
2008/06/20 [14:45] <+jcposner> agree..I guess what I an advocating is web
awareness as part of the OS, I have it to some degree with auto updates..but
what I would be really interested in his here are the things that happened on
the web when you were offline that you may find interesting..having that level
of smarts built into OS
2008/06/20 [14:45] <+aronski> As I travel and spend full days without being able
to access WiFi, I have become very dependant on mobile connections, mobile
browser, mobile IM and mobile push email.
2008/06/20 [14:46] <+jromeh> now in the 70s again, big audience numbers jerry
2008/06/20 [14:46] <+jcposner> seems Mozilla would be in a postion to deliver
that at an OS level
2008/06/20 [14:46] <+jcposner> again decouplng the web from the browser
2008/06/20 [14:46] <&usrbingeek> Dave Winer will be upset and whine no matter
what is said
2008/06/20 [14:47] <+aronski> My blogging has fallen off but I think that's due
to Twitter and being able to post photos and IM from a mobile platform... of the
realization that what I have to say might not be that important.
2008/06/20 [14:47] <+aronski> or
2008/06/20 [14:48] <+mobilejones> Isn't the glue called Friend Connect?
2008/06/20 [14:48] <+jromeh> work my ass off keeping music club calendar up to
date, need to automate it to syndicate the very complex event info, along with
that, find time to blog
2008/06/20 [14:49] <+jromeh> and that's not the day job, either
2008/06/20 [14:49] <+smbeebe> twitter!!!!!
2008/06/20 [14:49] <+smbeebe> Steve LOVES twitter
2008/06/20 [14:49] <+jromeh> yes, have leapfrogged over blogging to twitter in
some ways
2008/06/20 [14:49] <+smbeebe> yep
2008/06/20 [14:49] <+mobilejones> Many people love twitter
2008/06/20 [14:49] <+smbeebe> i do too
2008/06/20 [14:50] <+jromeh> sorta like 3rd world mobile adoption
2008/06/20 [14:50] <+rjeffries> enough with the Twitter monoculture alreday.
Gilmor, you ar esmarter than that
2008/06/20 [14:50] <+smbeebe> lol
2008/06/20 [14:50] <+smbeebe> friendfeed!
2008/06/20 [14:50] <+shareme> pownce
2008/06/20 [14:50] <+smbeebe> FRIENDFEED!!!!!!!!!!
2008/06/20 [14:50] <+shareme> pownce
2008/06/20 [14:50] <+smbeebe> come'on steve... FF
2008/06/20 [14:50] <+rjeffries> what happened to the brillian Steve Gilmor we
used to all know and love
2008/06/20 [14:50] <+mobilejones> pownce is Napster 2.0
2008/06/20 [14:50] <+rjeffries> Twitter is a service. not THE riggin service
2008/06/20 [14:50] <+shareme> he left the building? lol
2008/06/20 [14:50] <+mobilejones> it's not twitter
2008/06/20 [14:50] <+smbeebe> steve evangelizes twitter everyday (how much is EV
and Biz paying for this?)
2008/06/20 [14:51] <+aronski> Long form is saved for extrapolation, twitter is
for the back and forth...
2008/06/20 [14:51] <+smbeebe> right twitter is just an app folks
2008/06/20 [14:51] <+smbeebe> but a cool one, yes
2008/06/20 [14:51] <+mobilejones> All those people have mobile phones and
therefore SMS
2008/06/20 [14:51] <+mobilejones> If they have SMS, they have twitter
2008/06/20 [14:51] <+smbeebe> mainstream ...no!!!!!
2008/06/20 [14:51] <+rjeffries> Gimor also has had a BIG swig of Microsoft
Koolaid re silverlight
2008/06/20 [14:51] <+smbeebe> lol
2008/06/20 [14:52] <+jromeh> @davewiner: When kids can get laid cause of open
data, they'll get interested.
2008/06/20 [14:52] <+TinaGillmor> Steve likes what he likes... he's usually not
wrong
2008/06/20 [14:52] <+aronski> Ev's busy looking for a good veggie meal while
someone else tries to figure out the Track quandry...
2008/06/20 [14:52] <+mobilejones> Wii is the dealio
2008/06/20 [14:53] <+smbeebe> @Tina - true!
2008/06/20 [14:53] <+smbeebe> he does know how to pick a winner
2008/06/20 [14:54] <@theagent> an Apple product
2008/06/20 [14:54] <+smbeebe> powerschool - hmm
2008/06/20 [14:54] <+smbeebe> neat idea
2008/06/20 [14:54] <+aronski> It doesn't matter if you're on a game console,
phone or computer, Twitter works...when it works. If the veggie meal thing is
solved, they'll get to IM going both ways and then maybe they'll look at Track.
2008/06/20 [14:55] <@theagent> we have a piece of junk called SchoolLoop
2008/06/20 [14:55] <+aronski> Maybe some wakeboarding first though...
2008/06/20 [14:55] <+TinaGillmor> Debi, we have a Wii. steve always calls it the
Why. Drives our daughter crazy
2008/06/20 [14:55] <+mobilejones> LOL I love the Wii!
2008/06/20 [14:55] <+aronski> I'd figure he'd call it a 'Them"...
2008/06/20 [14:56] <+rickmurtagh> there are a number of really good access
portals for school systems - schools find it tough to justify the cost of IT to
keep it up and running
2008/06/20 [14:56] <+jromeh> my 25yo daughter loves her wii
2008/06/20 [14:56] <+mobilejones> It's so completely addictive, especially the
self test.
2008/06/20 [14:56] <+rickmurtagh> my "kids" love theirs too
2008/06/20 [14:56] <+TinaGillmor> is that on the Wii Fit Debi?
2008/06/20 [14:57] <+mobilejones> It's a base program, Tina. All Wiis have it.
2008/06/20 [14:58] <+mobilejones> You can only self test once per day and it
reports your "age" based on your performance in the sports games: Tennis,
Bowling, Baseball et al
2008/06/20 [14:58] <+TinaGillmor> OK...I've only palyed a few tennis games with
my kids. Must ake some time to get into it myself
032008/06/20 [14:58] * ustreamer-8205 is now known as derek-6592
2008/06/20 [14:58] <+mobilejones> Tina, you'll get hooked. You've been warned.
:-)
2008/06/20 [14:59] <+TinaGillmor> Debi... I've heard that.
2008/06/20 [15:00] <+jromeh> tried hers out, lots of fun, sure one will be
hooked up to the projector before long
2008/06/20 [15:00] <+mobilejones> Tina have you built your Mi yet?
2008/06/20 [15:01] <+jromeh> sounds like VRM from here
2008/06/20 [15:01] <+TinaGillmor> Crap... I need to get back to bed.. loud
sneeze... not feeling well today... slight fever
2008/06/20 [15:01] <+jromeh> hope you feel better soon, Tina
2008/06/20 [15:01] <+mobilejones> Ibuphrophen
2008/06/20 [15:02] <+mobilejones> Miracle drug
2008/06/20 [15:02] <+TinaGillmor> I think I built my Mi ... yes
2008/06/20 [15:02] <+smbeebe> Tina - get some rest after this call!
2008/06/20 [15:02] <+TinaGillmor> Kids built one of Steve... looks EXACTLY like
him
2008/06/20 [15:02] <+smbeebe> lots of folks have been fighting that around here.
2008/06/20 [15:02] <+smbeebe> lOL
2008/06/20 [15:02] <+mobilejones> Once you master the games, Tina, the next step
is playing over the net. :-)
2008/06/20 [15:03] <+mobilejones> I just wish the Wii had twitter integrated.
2008/06/20 [15:03] <+jcposner> afterlifecasting
2008/06/20 [15:03] <+TinaGillmor> I tool extra strenght Tylenol, ashtma meds,
antihist....
2008/06/20 [15:04] <+jromeh> so much to scan from shoeboxes, here's a tribute to
my recently passed father created back on his 70th -
http://jromeh.home.comcast.net/~jromeh/happyCamper/happyCamper.html
2008/06/20 [15:04] <+mobilejones> extra water and extra sleep helps too.
2008/06/20 [15:04] <+Jemimus-1> lol.. Jon talking about his wife now ;) I recall
stories from his past blogposts
2008/06/20 [15:04] <+TinaGillmor> It takes people a while to change
2008/06/20 [15:04] <+jcposner> technology doesn't age well, storage lockers do
2008/06/20 [15:04] <+aronski> because many people don't understand the
server/cloud concept and that it can be free/almost free...
2008/06/20 [15:05] <+rickmurtagh> people do not very often fundamentally change
- things like technology generally get incorporated, not cause general change
2008/06/20 [15:05] <+mobilejones> Some of it isn't psychological it's temporal
in terms of you learn new methods when you need them.
2008/06/20 [15:05] <+jromeh> how many early '90s documents you wrote can you
still produce easily?
2008/06/20 [15:05] <+smbeebe> crypto utopia!
2008/06/20 [15:06] <+smbeebe> love that
2008/06/20 [15:06] <+smbeebe> NONE
2008/06/20 [15:06] <+jcposner> print it or lose it, seems to be the case
2008/06/20 [15:06] <+aronski> point taken...though I transferred most of them
onto my website!!!
2008/06/20 [15:06] <+Jemimus-1> The nice thing about the mesh concept is that it
will be so integrated into the structure of the services, that it becomes
transparent. One hopes the clients become smarted too, that Outlook wont let you
send 20mb attachment, but will automaticly dump it in the cloud, with attached
security/context
2008/06/20 [15:06] <+smbeebe> server cloud rocks... except when twitter fail
whale shows up!
2008/06/20 [15:06] <+smbeebe> data coffins
2008/06/20 [15:06] <+mobilejones> jromeh early 90s I have some CCmail which not
usable, but also, many ascii files too.
2008/06/20 [15:06] <+smbeebe> floppies!
2008/06/20 [15:06] <+jakemonO> jon, windows live puts pictures in the cloud
nicely as you desrcibe
2008/06/20 [15:07] <+jakemonO> windows live mail, that is
2008/06/20 [15:07] <+jcposner> needs to be a public version of the national
archives
2008/06/20 [15:08] <+jromeh> if I fire this machine up, I can see this stuff
that was created with it ;)
2008/06/20 [15:08] <+mobilejones> Yeah, ask those in Iowa and New Orleans if
they trust Insurance companies. :-)
2008/06/20 [15:08] <+rickmurtagh> just keep a cersion of windows 98se on a
machine and keep it up to day with every digital archive item
2008/06/20 [15:09] <+aronski> The Radio Userland Upstream metaphor is still a
strong simple idea that non-tech types could dig, that can't understand an FTP
client or trust a browser upload to a cloud...
2008/06/20 [15:09] <+smbeebe> thanks guys!! nice show Steve!!
2008/06/20 [15:09] <+smbeebe> :-)
2008/06/20 [15:09] <+smbeebe> bye
